New years eve at the Palace Hotel (Image: SFPL)

I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, I've done so in the past, and by mid-January they were already becoming a distant memory. But I do enjoy the idea of a clean slate, a new year -- nothing written, new memories on the horizon. And it's always interesting to think back about past celebrations, ringing in the years that have now become part of history. For today I'm sharing some photos from the
San Francisco Public Library of New Year's Eve 1934 in SF.

Can you imagine counting down the seconds to ringing in 1935? Someday, someone will think the same of 2015 -- so enjoy all its 365 days.
I'm taking the rest of the week off, see you back here in 2015!
