Visiting Joshua Tree Part 2: Where to Shop

Photo: Imgur/Reddit
If you missed part one, you can check out the post on where to stay in Joshua Tree, over here.

If you already know where you're staying, here are some things to do after you've checked in:

Shopping: While I've never been a fan of airport-gift store style knickknacks (How many key chains does one person really need?) I like to bring something home from a trip that reminds of the place. It doesn't have to gaudily say the name of the place across it to serve as a souvenir; I've brought home a small wooden buoy from Maine, a globe from France, and an antique kitchen scale from a small town in Wisconsin. And so scouring through the stores in the Joshua Tree area, I've found a few that may serve as the perfect place to find something to take home with you.

Hoof & the Horn
Hoof & the Horn: This Yucca Valley store can completely outfit you (and anybody you've traveled with) for your desert stay and serve as a spot to grab something you can add to your house (via your closet): sandals, hats, and eye-catching turquoise pieces.

The End: Also located in Yucca Valley, this stores shares an assortment of vintage clothing, jewelry and art. Anything you find here is likely (due to the passage of time) to be one-of-a-kind.

Bkb Ceramics: A beautiful ceramic bowl with a simple pattern in neutral desert tones would be something lovely to add to a shelf; you could even add a cactus to truly tie in a trip to the desert.

Tip: If you're a vintage clothing junky, this area is for you, there are tons of great stores to check out. The L.A. Times offers a few others to put on your list.

The next post is all about where to eat, and some funky places to visit...
